Ever since my generation in our family started entering young adulthood, Christmas just wasn’t the same. Luckily, that changed once my sister started having children. Children have so much joy and new excitement during the holiday season! And this year, having my own little one to celebrate with made the celebrations even more fun.
I love celebrating Patriot’s “firsts” and Christmas was no exception.
Baby’s First Christmas
Spokane Winter Wonderland
While it wasn’t Patriot’s first time in Spokane, it was his first time in the snow! He was underdressed for spending much time outdoors (next time when he’s able to walk, we’ll definitely get him in a snow suit!) but Peter and I managed to get him out for a quick walk before getting him bundled back inside while we made a snowman, had a snowball fight, and did some sledding.
How many babies can say their first Christmas was also a White Christmas, covered in snow?
Peter’s Grandma, Aunt and Uncle made the long drive from California to Washington just to spend Christmas with us! We were already thrilled to be spending Christmas with Gammy and Baba (Pete’s parent’s) so having more family, including Patriot’s great grandma with us, was so special!
We spent most of our time hanging out by the fire, opening Christmas gifts (who could make cute Patriot wait until Christmas morning??), napping, playing with Pate, and eating tons of amazing food.
Gammy and Baba went all out spoiling us rotten for a few days with all of our favorites including a Mexican casserole, fondue, and peremech for breakfast!
Patriot’s first Christmas gift from Mama and Daddy? Life.
With the hustle and bustle of work, needing to find a new apartment to move to, and preparing for our trip, we skipped buying Pate any Christmas gifts. He got some thoughtful and fun gifts from our families though he loved stuffing the wrapping paper and ribbons into his mouth more than anything else!
