This week Peter and I celebrated one year of marriage. I can’t believe it’s already been one year since we were in Bali for the wedding. With all the excitement about pregnancy and Baby P, the past year has flown by. We had a full schedule of activities for our anniversary weekend which meant by the time our actual anniversary rolled around that Monday, all I wanted was a big bowl of macaroni and cheese at home before chowing down on our previously frozen wedding cake (which was surprisingly still delicious!).
Peter was happy to oblige of course.
But first up? Getting all dressed up for a fundraising ball for one of Hong Kong’s international schools. We were invited by friends whose son attend the school and since most of my evenings nowadays consist of me in my pjs trying to find a way to sit comfortably during a Netflix binge, it was fun slipping on my wedding shoes and getting glammed up.
The attire was black tie optional and I don’t exactly have a maternity evening gown stashed away in my closet. Luckily I did have a beautiful long, floral dress from one of my favorite maternity shops, PinkBlush.
I originally picked the dress because I knew it would be perfect for hot summer weather during and after pregnancy. I was thrilled that I was able to dress it up a bit by tying on a sash from another dress, having my hair done in a fun braided updo and adding two more special wedding pieces – the earrings I wore on the big day and a beautiful necklace that Mom and Dad Lampard gifted me the night before the wedding.
From day to night – voila! I was perfectly dressed for the evening, next to my very handsome date.
After a lovely evening out, we somehow managed to get out of bed at a decent time before activities all across the city.
Brunch with friends (all of whom were at our wedding a year earlier), a trip across the harbor to see West Side Story, a ferry back across the harbor for some sunshine and a nice walk before a big steak dinner.
Wuft. It was a lot of walking for me at 9 months pregnant (1 more month to go!), but luckily I had another great maternity dress from PinkBlush that kept me cool, comfortable and stylish from brunch to bedtime. Again, I love that I can wear it during pregnancy and after. This wrap dress in particular will be perfect for breastfeeding too.
Thank you to PinkBlush for helping me celebrate my anniversary weekend in style!
