With Baby P’s due date slowly approaching, travel (along with sleeping, sitting, existing…) has started becoming more and more uncomfortable. But Peter and I knew we wanted to sneak in one last trip to the US to see our families– especially Peter’s Granny who will be 93 this summer!
We wanted to make sure that Granny got to spend some time with her great grandson (even if he is still in the womb!) and we can’t wait for her to meet him after he’s born. Granny lives in the picturesque beach town of Cayucos, where Peter’s mom also grew up. Peter and I both love relaxing in this small, seaside town.
The last time we were here we took our engagement photos and gorged ourselves on fish tacos and saltwater taffy and lots more. I don’t think I was hungry for even a second during our visit. We were constantly eating and Baby P undoubtedly had a growth spurt that week.
Granny joined us as we indulged in all of our favorite foods and made sure I was well fed and well rested. We had lots of Mexican food, seafood and a new favorite– tri tip sandwiches from Brickhouse BBQ.

We picked up our BBQ and drove down to Morro Rock to enjoy our sandwiches and the view. Peter and I actually made a couple of visits to Morro Rock to pick up saltwater taffy and walk around the bay.
The weather was gorgeous during our entire visit to Cayucos and I was in complete bliss walking in the sun, enjoying the cool fresh air, and looking for sea otters in the water.
I kept imagining Baby P frolicking along the beach in the summer and I can’t wait to bring him here one day after he’s born.
