Happy New Year!
My apologies for not posting over the past few weeks. It’s been a fun and busy end of year between a trip to Rwanda (and my first to Kenya!) and heading to Texas for Christmas celebrations.
And to top it off, Peter and I have been holding in the big secret that there is a literal new kid coming to New Kid on the Wok this summer. Weeeeeeee! The Lampard family – Pristine, Peter and Baby P (or Peanut as my niece calls him/her) are thrilled to finally share the news about our new baby with everyone.
I first found out I was pregnant back in October the day before I was supposed to fly to Rwanda for work. I had been feeling really rough for about a week but didn’t think too much into it at first. When I finally did take a pregnancy test, it was in the middle of the night/early morning before Peter was supposed to fly to California for his own work trip.
There was no hidden camera of me tearfully surprising Peter with some sort of Pinterest worthy revelation that he was about to be a father. Just me crawling across the bed in the dark in my early prenatal pain a la Gollum, with the EPT (early pregnancy test) as my precious ring, moaning that I was pregnant.
Cue lots of confusion, excitement, and anxiety.
2.5 months later all 3 of these emotions are still in abundance on any given day, but we’re so thankful to have the best friends and family supporting us now that we’ve shared the news with everyone.
I can’t believe how many wonderful things happened for me in 2016. A few highlights I’m very thankful for.
I married my best friend
Obviously the highlight of my life (pre-baby!) was the dream wedding Peter and I shared in Bali and the beautiful Tatar ceremony and reception we had in California following. On top of this we were lucky enough to go on an incredible honeymoon in the Seychelles.
More travels and diving
I made 4 trips to Kigali – Rwanda this year, 2 to Houston – Texas, and trips to San Francisco – California, Nairobi – Kenya (blog coming soon!), Singapore, Xi’an – China, Hoi An – Vietnam, Malapascua – The Philippines, Sipadan – Malaysia, Bali – Indonesia, and the Seychelles
A New Job
I can’t believe it’s only been about a year since I started working at the Akilah Institute for Women and MindSky. I’ve met the most amazing people and colleagues and have been challenged and motivated in the best ways possible!
The icing on top of the cake for a whirlwind of a year.
I tell Peter all the time that I can’t wait for the baby to get here, but I’m really looking forward to just enjoying the next few months of my first pregnancy. I also want to get back into a really efficient routine for all the things that need to get done for work, home, baby, and my blog.
Over the next few weeks I’ll be back to regularly sharing recipes, travels, and now a few stories on Baby P here and on my Facebook and Instagram. I hope you’ll follow me on this next exciting journey and if there are any pregnancy questions I can help answer, please let me know!
