The night before the big day in Bali, Peter’s parents generously hosted a wonderful rehearsal dinner at bridges in Ubud.
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia
Peter and I had been to bridges on our visit to Ubud nearly 2 years earlier so we already knew to expect great food and service and it ended up being a fantastic location for our rehearsal dinner.
We were seated as a group at a long table, on a private floor, away from any other diners. It was an intimate set up which I was thankful for, not only because I wanted it to be quiet enough for conversations between our two families that were meeting for the first time but also because it meant there were less strangers around to see all of the tears I shed over the course of the evening.
I know many of our friends and family were expecting Peter to be the more emotional person between the two of us, but I was crying happy tears during many occasions over the wedding weekend too.
It was just so so special to see so many people Peter and I loved meeting together in one room before the wedding and I was so touched by the heartfelt speeches Carol and Colin made during the dinner before presenting very sentimental and thoughtful gifts to Peter and me. And I couldn’t help but cry a bit more after my bridesmaid, Kacey, made a sweet speech that I wasn’t expecting.
The dinner was the perfect precursor to all of the wonderful, joyful events to come the next day. In addition to our wedding party we were joined by our aunts and uncles, Peter’s grandmother, and great aunt and uncle. I couldn’t have been happier that we extended the invitation to include more of our family. Even with an extra evening together I still felt like the weekend went by way too quickly!
(thank you to my Uncle Nathan for all of the great photos from the night!)Yum
