I thought our stay in 2014 was amazing, but when Peter and I returned the following year, the resort impressed us even more.

We stayed in a Deluxe Sea View Room which included breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Our room was clean and spacious (although we didn’t spend much time in the room of course) and the views were gorgeous. After a morning of diving, I loved coming back to the resort for lunch and a little nap on a private balcony overlooking the bay.
Every evening the staff provided turn down service and left us a little note and a folktale or story related to El Nido.
Food and Drinks
After 5 days at the resort, I have no complaints about the food. It was all delicious! The dishes rotated so I don’t think I ever saw the same dish for lunch or dinner over the course of our stay (except for of course the basics–rice, salad bar, bread). There was always a large variety of food and Peter and I stuffed ourselves a bit too much the first few days and had to remind ourselves that we didn’t have to eat every item at the buffet.
They served mostly Filipino favorites and a few western dishes. I will say that the options certainly catered to a typical Filipino diet– meaning there was a lot of meat, fish, and carbs so if you are a vegetarian or prefer to eat mostly vegetarian, you should definitely contact the resort beforehand to let them know and I’m sure they would be more than happy to accommodate you.
While breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included with your stay, snacks and alcoholic drinks are not. The bar hosts a happy hour every evening with daily drinks specials.
Service and Staff
All of the staff members at the resort were wonderful, friendly, and went out of their way to accommodate anything we needed. The staff really seemed to take pride in their work and in the resort and it was great getting to know them. We were also happy to see some familiar faces and friends on the staff that we had met the year before.
Overall our stay at El Nido Resorts Miniloc Island went off without a hitch and I chalk that up to their fantastic team members.
I would definitely recommend El Nido Resorts Miniloc Island to any friends or family, but I do have to say that it’s important to bring any toiletries or necessities with you to the island. There is a small gift shop at the resort but if you forget a toothbrush or a razor– you’ll have to buy it at the shop which is not cheap considering what those items would probably retail for in town. While I understand the island wants to discourage unnecessary waste from excessive bathroom amenities (how many of us use the hotel toothbrushes once then throw them away at the end of the trip?), it would be nice if they had additional complimentary toiletries available if needed.
Perhaps these could be made available upon request rather than automatically providing them in the room to avoid waste.
It also would have been nice if the resort had given us a reusable water bottle or at least told us before the trip to bring our own. They provide unlimited clean drinking water but they do not provide water bottles for free. We had to buy two plastic (and normally disposable) bottles of water and then refill them throughout the trip.
Go go go! You won’t regret your stay one bit.
