Earlier this month Peter and I were lucky enough to head back to one of our favorite places on earth — El Nido on the island of Palawan in the Philippines. Although we were both disappointed that Peter’s parents (and my future in-laws) couldn’t join as we had originally planned, we couldn’t help but still be excited about the trip.
El Nido is a special place for Peter and I. Aside from the fact that it is absolutely beautiful (there’s a reason Palawan has been voted the #1 island in the world for two years in a row), but it is also the first place Peter and I ever traveled to together.
For my 24th birthday, Peter and I planned to spend Valentines Day together in El Nido after having not seen each other for 4 years. It was only later that I realized that maybe spending a romantic weekend with someone you haven’t seen in 4 years isn’t a great idea…it’s actually the best idea. If you ask for Peter’s side of the story, he’s convinced our trip to El Nido is what convinced me to move to Hong Kong.
From Hong Kong it is about a 2 hour flight to Manila followed by a 1 hour flight direct to El Nido. While this certainly isn’t the cheapest option for getting to the town, it is certainly the easiest. Your other option is to fly from Manila to Puerta Princesa and take a bus (6-8 hours) or car (~6 hours) to El Nido town.

Once again Peter and I stayed at the El Nido Resorts – Miniloc Island. We had a lovely stay there last year and this year was even better.
We were happy to also see some familiar faces at the resort from our last visit. I’ll post a detailed review of our stay at Miniloc soon but you can read more reviews and see hotel details here–El Nido Resorts Miniloc Island.
Although I did a series of posts on El Nido last year, Peter and I decided to do something new and scuba dive so I still have lots of new photos and goodies to share with you.
Check back later this week or follow me on Facebook here or via email (sign up on the right–>) so you don’t miss any of the updates!
