Hoisin Chicken Wings

hoisin chicken wings

There are many weeknights where I get home from work and see our nice clean little kitchen and happily destroy it in a whirlwind of ingredients and pans. There are other nights when the thought of having to wash up multiple pots and pans and dishes draws me longingly towards the kitchen window where we have an all too convenient view of a local (and scrumptious) burger shop.

But instead of dining out, I have a few go to dishes for lazy days. In addition to being filling and delicious, a lazy meal all must meet the following requirements:
1. slim to no chopping/dicing
2. as few dishes must be used as possible
3. preferably no time spent standing and cooking by the stove

On the top of the list? Baked chicken wings. And when tossed in a sticky hoisin glaze, these hoisin chicken wings are so simple and scrumptious, who the cluck needs to order out for easy comfort food? (sorry– I had to do it)

Hoisin sauce is a thick, savory and sweet Chinese sauce. Think of it as a Chinese BBQ sauce. It is perfect for adding a bit of sweetness to stir fries or in this case, for making baked Chinese BBQ wings!

By baking the wings rather than frying them we save ourselves from having to deal with a big vat of hot splattering oil. It also means that once we pop the floured wings into the oven, we can whisk together the sauce and pour ourselves a glass of wine and relax as the wings bake.

Once the wings are cooked and crispy, all it takes is a quick toss in your special hoisin sauce and you’re set! These hoisin chicken wings are so delectable that they will be flying off the plate. (sorry again…I had to…again…)
