Basel Rathaus

I was doing a bit of photo housecleaning recently and came across more pictures from Switzerland to share with y’all. It’s been over 2 months since I was in Switzerland so this week’s Travel Tuesday is really a “trip” for me too.

This beautiful city hall was built in the 14th century. The Basel Rathaus is a very recognizable building. It’s large and vibrant and impossible to miss in the Marktplatz.

I love thinking about how historic buildings like this are. This beautiful city hall was built in the 14th century. The Rathaus was built before the United States of America was even a thought.

There are many old buildings in Basel and many of them are marked in their doorways with the year they were originally erected.

Although my visit to Basel was a bit grey and rainy, the red facade of the Rathaus contrasted brilliantly.
